Nebraska Senior Softball honored at La Vista City Council Meeting

June 18, 2025

Everyone,

As most of us know, on Monday, May 12th, there was a medical emergency at one of our games. During an 8:45 game, John Erwin, of the RANGERS suffered a heart attack. Through the quick action of several players and fans, John's life was saved.

Last night, Tuesday, June 17th, at the LaVista City Council meeting, recognition was given to players and a fan that immediately jumped into action that night and saved John's life.

Recognized were Brian Kottich (CUBS Player), Jeff Harper (RANGERS Manager/Player), and Stephen Triggs (brother of Tom Triggs, RANGERS player). While there were many more players and fans that stepped up to help in the situation, these three provided the most critical aid in such a timely manner. Because of their actions that night, the LaVista City Council deemed it appropriate that they be recognized for their actions. Below are some pictures from the ceremony.

Jeff Harper, Stephen Triggs, Brian Kottich

Award Certificate & Medals

Once again, the Nebraska Senior Softball league is not just about playing softball.

It is a community. It is a family.

It is wonderful to be a part of such a great organization.

Congratulations to these recipients, and to everyone else that helped out that night.

Saving a life is kind of a big deal!

Sincerely,

Tom Holder
